Country overview
- There are no restrictions on entry and residence for people living with HIV in Kyrgyzstan. But there are other restrictions: for work visas and residence permits testing for HIV is required.
- Antiretroviral treatment can be carried for personal use in quantities appropriate to the duration of the stay.
Labor migrants
Free of charge ART and a PrEP are provided to labor migrants. You do not need any special documents. It is enough to have a passport or any identity document. Migrants registered at AIDS centers in Kyrgyzstan can also receive ART remotely. It is enough to communicate with your doctor and inform them that you need to receive ART. The attending doctor will pass the information and medications to NGO staff, and then the ART will be sent by postal service to your destination (only within CIS countries).
Refugees
Free of charge ART and a PrEP are provided to refugees. You do not need any special documents. It is enough to have a passport or any identity document.
Access to treatment
You must go to the nearest special clinic to receive ART and PrEP. HIV related services are provided by AIDS Centers, which are located in all regions of Kyrgyzstan.
You need to take your passport or any other identity document. You will be prescribed an analysis, according to the algorithm, which is accepted in the country. This is a fee-based service, you will have to pay about 230 soms (approximately 2,41 euros, as of April 2024). After getting the results, you will be registered at the clinic. All further services related to HIV will be free of charge. So you will be able to get ART, PrEP and required analyses for free.
